SRAJAN 2015

Commemorating for the creative thinking and inordinate innovation on the platform of National Importance, identifying , devising and canvassing the prevalent problems by analyzing information, acquiring knowledge and proposing solutions in order to invigorate the ideation process among budding engineers is the intrinsic aim of SRAJAN´15.

Srajan´15 Student Project Contest was held at Student Activity Centre (SAC), MANIT. Notably, Srajan is a biennial Student Project Contest organised by IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) to promote research activities among the engineering students at undergraduate and postgraduate level and provides them a platform to present their creative and innovative ideas.

The programme began on February 21 and the Chief Guest for the ceremony was Umashankar Gupta, Higher Education Minister, Madhya Pradesh. The ceremony was presided over by Dr.Appu Kuttan KK, Director, MANIT. As many as 20 projects were finally shortlisted out of 110 entries for exhibition during Srajan’15. Some of the shortlisted projects include Prosthetic Hand for trans radial amputee, Home Automation using voice and gesture recognition, Wonder Glove (A communication device for the deaf and blind), Solar energy based drip irrigation system were exhibited at the SAC.

Apart from project exhibition a Guest Lecture series and Workshops on Industrial Automation (PLC and SCADA) and Big Data Analysis were also organised. As many as 500 Students from colleges around Bhopal participated in the Guest Lectures and 200 students participated in the workshops. The Guest Lecture series featured lectures from eminent personalities. On the concluding day Shyam Mardikar, Arvind Sanjeev and S K Ray delivered the lecture. Vishwanathan Raghunathan and Arvind Sanjeev interacted with the students via Skype.

The programme was followed by the Prize Distribution Ceremony. The winners of the Student Project Contest were provided with certificates of merit and prize money.
