Aarambh is an outreach program conducted by IEEE MANIT Students Branch with an intrinsic aim to promote science not as a subject but as a part of day to day life and career interest to the underprivileged sections of society. Needless to justify, children need to realize the importance of scientific point of view in their school days only, so that as they grow up, they can have a rational perspective and live a healthy and prosperous lives. The idea is to popularize science as a way to understand life and to feel the things happening around by reaching children from deprived communities, who are getting elementary education in some government or convent schools with basic problems such as lack of quality teacher, improper infrastructure, lack of guidance, inadequate atmosphere.
This year, AARAMBH was conducted on 1st and 2nd September in KAMLA NEHRU HIGHER SECONDARY GIRLS SCHOOL and SHASHKIYA NUTAN MADHYAMIK VIDHALAYA.They demonstrated four projects-Simple DC Motor, Magnetic effect of Solenoid, Wave formation with pendulum of different lengths and Pop-pop boat covering basic principles of science like inertia, magnetic effect of current, buoyancy etc. These projects were made using simple household materials with each project costing less than Rs 200. Apart from demonstrating the projects, the team members also showed the students how they could make these projects themselves. The teachers were so impressed with the projects that they asked the school students to make each project themselves under the guidance of IEEE members.
This was followed by a career counselling session in which the team members interacted with the students and answered their queries on how to pursue the career of their choice.
